How to Match Your EV to the Right Charger

  1. Check Your Vehicle's Maximum Onboard Charger (OBC) Limit

Connecting to a 22 kW AC charger will not charge your car at 22 kW if your vehicle's onboard AC converter is rated for 7.2 kW.

The vehicle's internal charging system automatically restricts the charging rate to its supported limit.

  2. Observe Your Vehicle's DC Fast Charging Curve

Peak DC charging speeds, such as 50 kW or 100 kW, are generally available only during part of the charging session, often between approximately 10% and 80% State of Charge (SoC).

Beyond 80%, the Battery Management System (BMS) generally reduces charging power to help manage battery temperature and protect battery health.

  3. Inspect the Physical Charging Socket

    • 7-pin circular inlet: Type-2, commonly used for AC charging.
    • 7-pin top + 2 large bottom pins: CCS2, which supports AC Type-2 charging and DC fast charging.
    • Compact 7-pin standard for 2W/3W: LECCS / Type 7, a BIS-standardized unified AC/DC charging interface.
